Day 1 Christchurch - Kaikoura

First travel north over the rolling North Canterbury countryside. Traverse the Hundalee Hills to reach the coast near Kaikoura: famous for its crayfish [lobster] and whale watching. On arrival join Dolphin Encounter Kaikoura. You’ll come face to face with dolphins. Watch their antics and get fantastic photo opportunities. Conditions permitting you will be able to go swimming with them.

Day 2 Kaikoura - Nelson

It’s up and away early this morning on your whale-watch excursion in search of giant Sperm and Wright whales. Later continue along the rugged seashore before heading inland. Pass through the wine producing Wairau Valley. Climb over the Richmond Ranges to reach Tasman Bay and Nelson, New Zealand’s sunniest city. The balance of the day will be free to explore this trendy provincial city.

Overnight Nelson for 3 nights

Day 3 Abel Tasman Kayaking

Today experience a one-day sea kayaking excursion in the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. Kayak through the marine reserve to Tonga Island with its seal colony. Enjoy lunch (included) in a sheltered cove. - snorkeling equipment is provided for those wanting to explore the marine life below the surface. Spend the afternoon paddling in the remote coves or exploring the tracks through lush native forest and beaches. Return to Kaiteriteri and retrace your journey to Nelson.

Day 4 Horse Ridding Excursion

The morning will be free to discover Nelson with its wealth of artisans, craft markets and cafes. This afternoon partake in a half day horse ridding excursion at the Historic Stonehurst Farm Ride their dependable horses over farmlands, through forests and along river banks. After your ride enjoy a friendly “cuppa” with the locals.

Day 5 Nelson - Westport

Ascend Hope Saddle, view the peaks of Nelson Lakes National Park. Pass through Murchison with its hills scarred by the devastating 1929 earthquake. Following the banks of the Buller Gorge drive beneath cliffs that in places overhang the highway, to Westport. This afternoon join Norwest Adventures for the Nile River Railway experience and underground rafting adventure through the Nile Cave system. Explore a paradise of stalactites, float thru' incredible Glow-worm lit grottos & tube the Nile River Rapids.

Day 6 Westport - Glaciers

Bearing south hug the rugged coastline to Punakaiki, visit to the famous blow holes before arriving in Greymouth. Continuing south drive through stands of native forest and over swift flowing rivers to arrive at the Glaciers.

Overnight Glaciers for 2 nights

Day 7 Glaciers

This mornings’ half day glacier trip includes a walk to the rugged terminal face of the glacier and 1 to1½ hours exploring the lower reaches of the Glacier. Travel up the glacier is aided by precut step-lines. This afternoon is free for bush walks or a scenic flight with an on snow landing.

Day 8 Glaciers - Queenstown

Pass by pristine lakes and forests. Cross the Haast River before climbing alongside lofty peaks and cascading waterfalls to Haast Pass. Descending to Otago hug the shores of Lakes Wanaka, Hawea and Dunstan to reach Cromwell. The Kawaerau Gorge with its thundering river prelude Lake Hayes and the beautiful resort of Queenstown

Day 9 The Crazy Kiwi Day Adventure

Today’s adventure starts with a briefing on the format of the “Crazy Kiwi” day. Then it’s off for a wild Jet boat ride on the Shotover River. Just minutes after the leaving the jet boat you’re flying by helicopter along the canyon’s of the Shotover River to join your rafting trip. Hurtle down rapids and through foaming white water on your exhilarating rafting trip. Back on dry land its time for lunch before heading off to The AJ Hackett Nevis Bungy site After an exciting 4WD safari you arrive at the 134 metre (442 feet) jump site a cableway suspended about the Nevis River.

Day 10 Queenstown Free Day

A free day to relax after 9 days of activities. However if you still wish to “go hard” try river sledging, parapenting or a mountain bike excursion. Included is the Bob’s Peak gondola ride for the magnificent alpine views.

Day 11 Queenstown - Christchurch

Depart Queenstown via the Kawarau Gorge with its thundering river. Past Cromwell and along the shores of Lake Dunstan before traversing the Lindis Pass. Cross the Mackenzie Country with its expanses of tussock and snow capped Southern Alps. Arriving Mt. Cook time allows for an optional scenic flight. Pass Lakes Pukaki and Tekapo before travelling over the Canterbury Plains to reach Christchurch.
